Marine Monitoring and Information Services Platform is joint established by Xiamen University and Xiamen Southern Marine Research Center, and is focused on building an innovation platform of monitoring and information based on real-time monitoring network, marine dynamic model, remote sensing and GIS technology. Aims to providing services to long term coastal changes monitoring, ocean engineering projects, disasters prevention, pollution risk assessment, coastline and habitat management for supporting the marine economy as well as marine ecological civil construction. Some application systems have been built, such as 3D Temperature, Salinity, Current Operational Ocean Model of Xiamen Bay and Emergency Decision Support System, Dynamic Monitoring System of Xiamen Coastline, Tidal Flat and Coastal wetland, Storm Surge Forecast and Disaster Loss Evaluation System, Marine Information Integration and Sharing Service System for Xiamen Bay. A few application cases were showed in the study. Emergency quick monitoring and analysis was conducted during the red tide in Xiamen Bay in February 2016, Akashiwo sanguinea was the dominant species and the red tide was connected with weather condition. The oil spill event in January 2016 was observed by remote sensing and source was tracked with hydrodynamic model, the results suggest that the spill might come from a ship passing by Xiamen-Jinmen waterway on January 9. Simulation and prediction of sudden accident drift was conducted when a shipwreck occurred on August 22, 2013, using 3D Temperature, Salinity, Current Operational Ocean Model of Xiamen Bay and Emergency Decision Support System, and was used for rescuing people. The results from observation and simulation for the meeting of the tides from Tongan Bay and Western Sea in Xiamen were used for the sea dyke engineering project.
