We present a simple and directly method for measurement of microbial ammonia oxidation rate and oxidation rate. This method is based on the micro-plate spectrophotometric method to measure the nitrite, nitrate and ammonia without depending on any inhibitors. We performed this experiment in the situ condition and continuous culture to measure the concentration of ammonium (NH4+), nitrite (NO2-) and nitrate (NO3-) to calculate the ammonia oxidation rate (Va) and nitrite oxidation rate (Vn) of Pearl River water and sediment from Daya Bay, in the actual calculation process, we only uses the concentration of nitrite (NO2-) and nitrate (NO3-). Finally we found this method is more accurately and directly, as well as no other interference from the inhibitors.
