The present study uses ROMS to simulate the stratification effects on the generation and propagation of M2 internal tides in the area northeast of Taiwan. Complex topography features are found to modulating the tidal dissipation and mixing distribution through the baroclinic energy budget analysis. The mixing hotspots may play an important role in influencing the stratification structure and water exchange.
