Visa Information


Travel in Xiamen may require a Chinese visa.

 

Ø  Visa Application: 

Visitors to China, without exception, must have a passport valid for at least six months and most nationalities need an entry visa.

In some countries, the visa approval process is rather complicated, and can take up to three months.  Early application is highly recommended.

Participants should apply for visas from their nearest Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China, prior to departure for China.

The participants can visit China in two ways: short time tourist visa and business visa depending on the countries.

 

Ø  Tourist visa (L Visa):

An invitation letter issued by the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science, Xiamen University, which is considered as a formal invitation letter for visa application will be delivered to you by email as soon as your participation is confirmed. 

 

Ø  Business visa (F Visa):

It takes about 2 weeks to obtain a complete visa notification letter from the local municipal government. We strongly recommend you to give us the complete visa application information via email if you need a visa letter. The information includes: your nationality, full name on passport, date of birth, passport number, title, the intended date of entry and stay period, the nearest Chinese consulate to your resident, and your brief CV. A scanned copy of your passport is preferred for the ease of paper work.
