Short Course: Underwater acoustic communication

Brief description of the course:
This short course focuses on the digital acoustic communication system in the underwater environment. Theoretic foundation of digital signal processing will be briefly reviewed including sampling theorem and linear systems. Practical tools such as pulse compression and channel identification will be introduced. A framework for establishing computer communication simulations in a realistic ocean environment will be the main emphasis. Advanced topics such as time reversal methods in the ocean will be introduced. Comprehensive projects on acoustic communication practice will be used to evaluate student’s understanding the content.
