Nianzhi Jiao was awarded the 2013 Science and Technology Progress Award in Earth Sciences by the Hong Kong -based Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation.

The study on "Isolation, identification of the new pattern of antimicrobial peptide Scygonadinfrom Scylla paramamosain, and its immune mechanisms and functions" led by Kejian Wang was awarded the 2nd Prize of Marine Science and Technology Award by Chinese Society for Oceanography, Pacific Society of China, and Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology.
