报告摘要:
Phytoplankton capture solar energy, fix carbon and nutrients into organic matters, and together with heterotrophic bacteria, fuel the whole marine food web. The structure and rates of photosynthesis and biosynthesis by phytoplankton in the ocean’s subtropical gyres reflect the balance between photons delivered from above and macro-nutrients delivered largely from below. In my talk, I will focus on how phytoplankton balance the supply and demand of carbon, energy and nutrients at different depths across the euphotic zone in the ocean.

吴桢,麻省理工学院研究科学家, 2013 、2018年分别获得北京大学环境科学学士和环境科学博士学位,后赴美国麻省理工学院从事博士后研究。主要借助海洋环流模式和生态系统模型研究生物地球化学循环和海洋微生物之间的交互响应。相关研究工作发表于Nature Microbiology、Nature Geoscience和Global Biogeochemical Cycles等国际期刊。
