Analysis of water sample containing large number of live phytoplankton is of fundamental importance for oceanographic ecology and environment science study. Imaging flow cytometry (IFC) enjoys high resolution imaging and high throughput detection advantages of traditional optical microscopy and flow cytometry simultaneously, which becomes an advanced tool for high-throughput phytoplankton analysis. In this talk, typical IFCs for phytoplankton analysis will be reviewed, and a new type of fluorescence IFC, FluioSieve, developed by the speaker’s team will be introduced and discussed.
